We are looking for curious, motivated people who want to understand human immune disease at single-cell resolution and turn that understanding into new diagnostics and therapies. No prior single-cell or coding experience is required. We will train you.
Why train at LIT
-
Questions that start at the bedside. Our projects begin with real clinical problems and well-annotated patient samples from Seoul National University Hospital, in close collaboration with dermatology, nephrology, pulmonology, oncology and transplant teams.
-
The full multi-omics toolkit. You will generate and analyze your own data with single-cell RNA/ATAC/TCR-BCR sequencing, spatial transcriptomics (Visium, Xenium, GeoMx, CosMx), mass cytometry and Olink proteomics, working at both the bench and the computer.
-
Physician-scientist mentorship. The lab is led by Prof. Hyun Je Kim, MD, PhD, a dermatologist and immunologist previously at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York.
-
A strong publication record. More than 110 papers to date, with trainees as first authors in journals such as Clinical and Translational Medicine, Cancer Medicine and Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Research.
-
An international outlook. Lab members present at the Human Cell Atlas General Meeting, AAI IMMUNOLOGY, the World Transplant Congress and Asian Transplantation Week, and the lab is a member of the Human Cell Atlas. International students are welcome.
-
Support. Graduate students in the lab receive stipend support, and lab members regularly present their work at international meetings.
Open positions
-
Graduate students (M.S., Ph.D., integrated M.S./Ph.D.): through the Seoul National University Graduate School, including the Department of Biomedical Sciences, the Interdisciplinary Program in Tumor Biology and the Interdisciplinary Program in Artificial Intelligence. SNU admits graduate students twice a year (spring and fall semesters). Please contact us well before the application deadline.
-
Postdoctoral fellows: immunology, single-cell and spatial genomics, and computational biology.
-
Physician-scientist trainees: residents, fellows and clinicians, including through the full-time and part-time graduate physician-scientist training programs.
-
Research interns: undergraduate and medical students, during the semester or over summer and winter breaks.
