2026

• October 2026 | Postdoctoral research at SNU
  Christine Suh-Yun Joh (조서연) and Minji Kang (강민지), our August 2026 Ph.D. graduates, continue their research at Seoul National University as postdoctoral researchers.

• September 30, 2026 | Best Abstract Award
  Dongryeol Shin (신동렬) was selected for the Korean Society of Cardiology 2026 Best Abstract Award. Congratulations!

• September 23, 2026 | Oral presentation accepted at ATW 2026
  Minji Kang (강민지) was selected for an oral presentation on spatial transcriptomic profiling of fibrosis and tubular atrophy in kidney allografts at Asian Transplantation Week 2026.

• September 12, 2026 | Poster accepted at Cell Press Symposia
  Alumnus Jaecheon Ko (고재천) was selected to present a poster on single-cell profiling and a monocyte glucocorticoid program after thrombectomy at “Decoding cellular complexity: Single cell biology in the era of AI” in Munich.

• August 2026 | Congratulations to our graduates
  Christine Suh-Yun Joh (조서연) and Minji Kang (강민지) earned their Ph.D. degrees. Hyeewon Seo (서혜원) and Juyoung Jin (진주영) earned their M.S. degrees. Congratulations on these milestones!

• July–August 2026 | BK21 Outstanding Graduate Student
  Sanha Hwang (황산하) was selected for the BK21 Outstanding Graduate Student Award for research on LAMTOR2 overexpression in hepatocellular carcinoma with vessels encapsulating tumor clusters.

• July 2026 | Physician-scientist training
  오재익 was selected for the full-time graduate physician-scientist training support program. 온동석 is participating in part-time physician-scientist research training under Prof. Hyun Je Kim.

• April 2026 | BK21 mentoring recognition
  Yewon Moon (문예원) was selected for the BK21 laboratory rotation mentoring award for the first semester of 2026.

• March 2026 | Welcome to the lab
  We welcome 조민정, a Ph.D. student in the Interdisciplinary Program in Tumor Biology, to the lab under the supervision of Prof. Hyun Je Kim.

 

2025

• October 2025 | BK21 mentoring recognition
  SeungMin Cha (차승민) was selected for the BK21 laboratory rotation mentoring award for the second semester of 2025.

• August 2025 | Oral presentation at WTC 2025
  Minji Kang (강민지) gave an oral presentation at the World Transplant Congress 2025 in the United States on molecular signatures in T cell–mediated rejection using single-cell and spatial transcriptomics.

• June 2025 | Human Cell Atlas General Meeting
  Sowon Choi (최소원) gave an oral presentation on high-resolution spatial transcriptomic profiles across multiple cancers in Korea. Yewon Moon (문예원) presented a poster on a single-cell atlas of pediatric rheumatologic diseases at the meeting in Singapore.

• May–June 2025 | BK21 Outstanding Graduate Student
  Minji Kang (강민지) was selected for the BK21 Outstanding Graduate Student Award for molecular profiling of kidney transplant biopsies with borderline changes and isolated V-lesions.

• April–May 2025 | International conference presentations
  Yewon Moon (문예원) presented posters on pediatric rheumatologic diseases at the ISSAID meeting in France in April and IMMUNOLOGY2025 in the United States in May.

• March–April 2025 | BK21 Outstanding Graduate Student
  Soyoung Jeong (정소영) was selected for the BK21 Outstanding Graduate Student Award for single-cell transcriptomic analysis of generalized pustular psoriasis treated with IL-12/23 or IL-17A blockade.

• January–February 2025 | BK21 Outstanding Graduate Student
  Hayeon Shin (신하연) was selected for the BK21 Outstanding Graduate Student Award for an exploratory study of serum protein biomarkers for sudden cardiac arrest.

• January 2025 | International doctoral research
  HyoJeong Nam (남효정) began research at the Human Immune Monitoring Center, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Jungho Lee (이정호) began research at Harvard University. Both are doctoral research placements.

 

2024

• November–December 2024 | BK21 Outstanding Graduate Student
  Sowon Choi (최소원) was selected for the BK21 Outstanding Graduate Student Award for single-cell transcriptomic research in pediatric coenzyme Q10 nephropathy.

• December 2024 | Human Cell Atlas Asia Meeting
  Geon Woo Park (박건우) presented a poster on regulatory T cells in pediatric tonsillar hypertrophy. Hayeon Shin (신하연) presented a poster on inflammatory proteomic biomarkers in atopic dermatitis at the meeting in Hong Kong.

• November 2024 | Alumni career news
  Karoliina Ruhno, who earned her M.S. in August 2024, joined 아이엠바이오로직스 as a researcher in its new drug research team on November 4, 2024.

• September–October 2024 | BK21 Outstanding Graduate Student
  HyoJeong Nam (남효정) was selected for the BK21 Outstanding Graduate Student Award for research on stem-like regulatory T cell subsets using simultaneous single-cell epigenetic and gene-expression profiling.

• September 2024 | Human Cell Atlas General Meeting
  Sowon Choi (최소원) presented a poster on shared pathological cell types across inflammatory skin diseases at the Human Cell Atlas General Meeting in Italy.

• July 2024 | KAI Travel Award
  Soyoung Jeong (정소영) was selected for a 2024 KAI Travel Award for her abstract on immune signatures and therapeutic implications of pediatric atopic dermatitis at Cytokines 2024 & KAI 2024.
